tips and limitations

TIPS

-) You can double-click on a diffuse map thumbnail for a large view.
This doesn't work with diffuse COLORS, since it wouldn't make much sense.

-) You should leave the 'Target Name' on default ('Adopt New'). This saves processing time and memory.

-) You can modify the preset files manually. Presets are stored in '$scripts\ml_plugins\presets\'
each preset constists of a MAT file and an INI textfile. You can load & modify the MAT file with the Material Editor.

CURRENT LIMITATIONS

-) It's currently not possible to use 2 materials with the same name.
If you want to update a material to another one with the same name, you have to use a dummy material as workaround.
For example, if you have a material called 'glass' and you want to replace it with another material named 'glass', replace it with any dummy material. Then start Material Replacer again and replace the dummy material with the final 'glass' material.

PLANNED UPDATES

-) Better preset system, option to merge presets, update presets, load only unassigned materials, etc.

-) Support for other material types than standard. Please mail me your requests. Current candidates: Raytrace material, VIZ4 radiosity override, 3rd party renderer materials (final render, brazil, vray)

-) Fixing the double name limitation (not easy because max handles materials in a very complicated way, and likes to get unstable when messing around with doubles & submaterials).
